When you hear/read the words “family” and “future”, what immediately comes to mind? Maybe it’s paving the way for your family to prosper in the future. Maybe it’s building and protecting generational wealth. It could even be a blend of both that involves cementing your namesake in the process. If nothing else, family and future evoke a sense of duty that involves sowing into someone, and something, beyond self. In the domaining space, there’s a decent amount of individuals working to build empires that support their loved ones; and provide room for advancement beyond simply acquiring, selling and trading domain names.

In an ever-evolving world, we’re constantly being faced with new choices to make as we chart our path through life. These choices carry even more weight when they directly impact both those we love and those who rely upon us. Even when they’re related to domaining. This is a dynamic that makes support from family and benefactors the fuel that helps propel an endeavor forward. A lack of support can have the opposite effect. From a bird’s eye view, domaining might appear to be a lone pursuit where mining the value of alphanumeric characters that “identify” and “point to” is the sole mission. Needless to say, it’s far more.

There’s a common saying that “If you do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”. In today’s climate, such a saying should be coupled with “Efforts that benefit those you love give them better odds of having a prosperous future.”. This isn’t to suggest domaining is or isn’t lovable. It’s merely to say it takes effort. It takes time. It takes patience. All of which are resources devoted just as much to family and those who depend on the domainer. This is why it’s important to remember domains are tools and domainers are mechanics. Domaining is simply a vehicle to get everyone from promise to purpose fulfilled.
